Short answer: Save the person to Salesforce with Ln2CRM as a Contact or a Lead, open the LinkedIn conversation and click Sync to CRM. The first sync writes up to the last 100 messages as a classic Salesforce note on that record, or on the linked Opportunity. With Auto-sync new messages on, later messages follow on their own. No Sales Navigator seat is needed; Salesforce's native route needs Advanced Plus.
Before you start
- The Ln2CRM extension installed in Chrome and Salesforce connected in Ln2CRM settings by signing in on Salesforce's own screen (OAuth). Your Salesforce edition needs API access: Enterprise, Unlimited, Performance and Developer include it, Pro Suite and Professional need the API add-on, and Starter Suite and the Free Suite have none.
- The person saved in Salesforce from their LinkedIn profile. If you have not set that up yet, see the LinkedIn Salesforce integration page.
- Any Ln2CRM plan. Each sync that writes new messages uses one Manage action.
How to log LinkedIn messages in Salesforce
- Open the conversation.Open the thread in LinkedIn messaging, in a chat window opened from the person's profile, or in the Sales Navigator inbox. The person has to be in Salesforce already: the Ln2CRM badge on their profile shows In CRM once they are.
- Click Sync to CRM.The Sync to CRM button sits just above the message box, under the conversation. The number on it, for example Sync to CRM (3), is how many messages in this thread are not in Salesforce yet. Once everything is synced it reads Up to date.
- Pick the record if asked. If your setting is Deal and the contact has more than one open opportunity, the message box asks Which deal?. Pick one, or choose Contact instead.
- Check the result. The message box confirms with a line such as Synced 12 messages to Maya Chen. The first sync saves up to the last 100 messages in one note. If nothing is new, the button reads Up to date.
- Turn on auto-sync.In Ln2CRM settings, find Sync LinkedIn messages to, choose Contact or Deal, and tick Auto-sync new messages. Conversations you have synced once then pick up new messages on their own while they are open.

Where to find the conversation in Salesforce
Ln2CRM writes a classic Salesforce Note on the matched Contact or Lead, or on the Opportunity if you chose Deal. Open the record and look in the Notes & Attachments related list. Salesforce shows classic notes as plain text, so the note puts a name and date line above each group of messages instead of formatting. Each note stays under about 30,000 characters, and longer threads continue in another note.

What gets synced and what does not
- Synced: the text of each message, who sent it and when, grouped by speaker. The first sync goes back up to the last 100 messages.
- Not synced: files, images and reactions. They stay on LinkedIn.
- Never duplicated: each LinkedIn message has a stable id, so a message already in Salesforce is skipped on the next sync.
- Not stored by Ln2CRM: message text goes to Salesforce and is not kept on Ln2CRM servers.
How this compares with Salesforce's native LinkedIn options
| Option | What it needs | What reaches Salesforce | Cost per rep |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sales Navigator for Salesforce with CRM Sync | Sales Navigator Advanced Plus per rep plus a paid Salesforce edition | Writes back Sales Navigator activity as Salesforce activities | Advanced Plus by quote, from about $1,600 a year, plus an API enabled edition: Pro Suite with the API add-on at $125 a month or Enterprise at $175, billed yearly |
| Ln2CRM | Any Ln2CRM plan and a Salesforce edition with API access; no Sales Navigator seat | Regular LinkedIn and Sales Navigator conversations, as classic notes on the Contact, Lead or Opportunity | Free plan; Base $156 a year per user, on the same API enabled edition |
If it does not work
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Name is not in your CRM yet | No Salesforce record is linked to this LinkedIn profile | Click Open profile to add, save the person, then sync |
| Which contact? | Several Salesforce records match the name | Pick the right one; Ln2CRM remembers it for this profile |
| Up to date on the button | Nothing new since the last sync | Nothing to do |
| Monthly limit reached | This month's Manage actions are used up | Wait for the monthly reset or move to a bigger plan |
| Connect a CRM in Ln2CRM settings first | Salesforce is not connected | Connect Salesforce in Ln2CRM settings |
| Ln2CRM updated in the background | The extension updated while LinkedIn was open | Click Reload page |
| Auto-sync did nothing | Auto-sync only follows conversations you have synced once | Sync the conversation by hand one time |
FAQ
Do I need Sales Navigator Advanced Plus to log LinkedIn messages in Salesforce?
Not with Ln2CRM. Salesforce's native LinkedIn sync does need an Advanced Plus seat for every rep; Ln2CRM works on any Ln2CRM plan and a regular LinkedIn account.
Does Ln2CRM work with Salesforce Starter Suite or the Free Suite?
No. Salesforce gives API access only to Enterprise, Unlimited, Performance and Developer editions, or to Pro Suite and Professional with the API add-on. Starter Suite and the Free Suite have no API access, so no API based tool can connect, Ln2CRM included.
Why is the note plain text in Salesforce?
Ln2CRM writes a classic Salesforce Note, and Salesforce displays classic notes as plain text. The note still separates speakers with a name and date line.
Can the conversation go to an Opportunity?
Yes. Set Sync LinkedIn messages to Deal in Ln2CRM settings, and the note goes to the Opportunity linked to that person. With several open opportunities, Ln2CRM asks which one.
Does it work for Leads as well as Contacts?
Yes. The note attaches to whichever record Ln2CRM matched for that LinkedIn profile, a Lead or a Contact.
