How to Log LinkedIn Messages in Pipedrive Automatically

Step by step: send a LinkedIn conversation to Pipedrive with one click, choose the person or deal it lands on, and let new messages sync on their own.
Short answer: Pipedrive has no native way to log LinkedIn messages. With Ln2CRM, save the person to Pipedrive, open the LinkedIn conversation and click Sync to CRM: the first sync writes up to the last 100 messages as one note on the person, or on their deal. Switch on Auto-sync new messages and later messages follow on their own while the conversation is open.

Before you start

  • The Ln2CRM extension installed in Chrome and Pipedrive connected in Ln2CRM settings with your personal API token (Pipedrive: Settings, Personal preferences, API).
  • The person saved in Pipedrive from their LinkedIn profile. If you have not set that up yet, see the LinkedIn Pipedrive integration guide.
  • Any Ln2CRM plan. Each sync that writes new messages uses one Manage action.

How to log LinkedIn messages in Pipedrive

  1. Open the conversation.Open the thread in LinkedIn messaging, in a chat window opened from the person's profile, or in the Sales Navigator inbox. The person has to be in Pipedrive already: the Ln2CRM badge on their profile shows In CRM once they are.
  2. Click Sync to CRM.The Sync to CRM button sits just above the message box, under the conversation. The number on it, for example Sync to CRM (3), is how many messages in this thread are not in Pipedrive yet. Once everything is synced it reads Up to date.
  3. Pick the record if asked. If your setting is Deal and the person has more than one open deal, the message box asks Which deal?. Pick one, or choose Contact instead.
  4. Check the result. The message box confirms with a line such as Synced 12 messages to Maya Chen. The first sync saves up to the last 100 messages in one note. If nothing is new, the button reads Up to date.
  5. Turn on auto-sync.In Ln2CRM settings, find Sync LinkedIn messages to, choose Contact or Deal, and tick Auto-sync new messages. Conversations you have synced once then pick up new messages on their own while they are open.

Where to find the conversation in Pipedrive

Open the person in Pipedrive, or the deal if you chose Deal, and look at the Notes tab; the note also shows in the record's history. Pipedrive renders notes as formatted text, so speaker names stay underlined and each message keeps its own line. Ln2CRM keeps each note under about 50,000 characters and continues very long threads in another note.

What gets synced and what does not

  • Synced: the text of each message, who sent it and when, grouped by speaker. The first sync goes back up to the last 100 messages.
  • Not synced: files, images and reactions. They stay on LinkedIn.
  • Never duplicated: each LinkedIn message has a stable id, so a message already in Pipedrive is skipped on the next sync.
  • Not stored by Ln2CRM: message text goes to Pipedrive and is not kept on Ln2CRM servers.

FAQ

Does Pipedrive have a native LinkedIn message sync?
No. Pipedrive has no first party LinkedIn integration, and LinkedIn's Sales Navigator CRM Sync does not support Pipedrive, so an extension is the only way.
Can the conversation go to a Pipedrive deal?
Yes. Set Sync LinkedIn messages to Deal in Ln2CRM settings. One open deal gets the note automatically; with several, Ln2CRM asks which deal.
What happens if I saved the person as a Pipedrive lead?
The note goes to the person the lead belongs to, so it shows in that person's history. Message sync writes to the person or to a deal, not to the lead card itself.
Does it need a particular Pipedrive plan?
No. Notes on people and deals are part of every Pipedrive plan, so message sync works on any of them, with no Marketplace add on to buy.
