Two big versions in two weeks. 2.0 came out on October 5 with an email finder built into the extension, and 2.1.2 is in the Chrome Web Store as we write this. In between there were nineteen smaller releases, and most of them were about things you'd only notice when they went wrong. So this isn't a feature list. It's what changed, and for the bigger things, what pushed us to change it.
The email finder is built in now
Before 2.0 you needed your own FullEnrich or Apollo key to look up an email, and that kept a lot of people from trying it at all. So we put a search of our own into the extension. Open the create form on a LinkedIn profile, press ✨ in the empty Email field, and Ln2CRM looks for the work address. It comes back with a check: green when the mail server confirmed the mailbox, yellow when the address is probably right but the server wouldn't say.
Searches come with every plan, 5 a month on Free, 100 on Base and 300 on Pro, and only the ones that actually find an email count. Already have a FullEnrich or Apollo key? It still works, and you decide the order. We keep ours with the built in search on top and a paid key underneath, which means the key is only touched for people our own search couldn't find.
Two smaller things came with it. Saving no longer waits for the search: hit Save while it's still running, and the address lands on the new record once it turns up. And the check isn't only for found addresses: an email you type, or one already on the linked CRM record, gets the same green or yellow mark. The full rules are in the find and verify emails help article.
Personal emails stay out of the Email field
This one came from a customer. He opened his CRM after a busy week and found Gmail addresses in the Email field, with his sequences heading to people's private inboxes. Some came from the search, some from the person's own LinkedIn Contact info. Either way, a sales CRM's main Email field is where your outreach goes, and a private address there does more harm than an empty field.
So since 2.1, Email only ever gets a business address. In Settings, Enrichment you'll find Business emails only. Leave it on and personal addresses are left out completely. Switch it off and they're searched too, through your own Apollo or FullEnrich key, and saved to a second field: a Home email in Pipedrive and Capsule, Zoho's Secondary Email, and in Salesforce whichever field you choose. HubSpot's Additional email gets the same treatment in the next update.
Fewer wasted searches
Some profiles just don't have a findable email. With automatic search on, we saw the same people come back empty day after day, and each try cost a credit with the user's provider. So automatic search now skips anyone who came back empty in the last seven days. Your own click on ✨ isn't held back; it searches right away, since you may know something the database doesn't, like a job change last week.
It works the other way too. Searched someone in the last 30 days? Opening them again brings back that result and its check for free. And only one search runs per person at a time now, so opening the same profile in two tabs no longer starts two.
LinkedIn message sync writes better notes
Most of the work here went into how a synced conversation reads in the CRM a month later. Every message now gets its own line with the sender and the real date and time it was sent. Line breaks inside a message survive the trip. Salesforce notes, which used to be one plain block, got proper headers. And in Settings you choose whether the newest message sits on top of the note or at the bottom, since CRMs don't agree on which way a note should read.
The other change is about silence. When a CRM stops accepting our connection, say an expired token or a revoked app, sync used to fail quietly and people kept clicking. Since 2.0.17 a banner on LinkedIn asks you to reconnect that CRM, and auto sync pauses itself until you do. Same when a CRM refuses notes because the workspace hit a plan limit: you now see what the CRM said, not a generic error. The message sync guide has the details.
AI that writes where you write
Two buttons moved out of the panel and onto LinkedIn itself. In the message box there's Draft an AI reply, which reads the conversation on screen and the person's latest notes in your CRM, then puts a draft in the box. Nothing gets sent; the Send button stays yours. Under posts there's a pen that drafts a comment. It mentions the post's author with a real @mention, it works in Sales Navigator too, and you pick a tone in Settings, from Professional and Friendly to Short or Challenging.
Not everybody wants AI buttons on LinkedIn, so there's a switch in Settings that hides the pens and the Templates button. For the same reason the separate AI Copilot tab in the panel is now hidden by default; the buttons on the page do that job closer to where you need it.
A calmer panel
Ln2CRM does a lot, and not everyone uses all of it. In 2.0 we added a Hide Features card in Settings: untick what you don't use and it's gone, with one option in each group always kept so nothing breaks. Your settings now live on your account, so a second laptop or a reinstall picks them up. The click through tour gave way to a short video, and new installs get a one time hint the first time a green, yellow or grey CRM badge shows up on LinkedIn.
Fixes we're glad to see gone
- HubSpot saying no for a minute. HubSpot allows only a few search calls per second per account. A burst of company saves could use that up from two of our servers at once, and HubSpot answered with errors until it cooled down. Searches are now paced per HubSpot account across all of them.
- Company badges in long lists. They used to look each company up in the CRM one by one, which was slow on big search pages. They load much faster now.
- A flickering badge after an update. When Chrome updated the extension, the old copy in already open LinkedIn tabs kept running next to the new one, and the badge flipped between their answers until you reloaded the page. The old copy now goes quiet by itself.
- +Deal and +Company mixups. A new deal could pick up a company you'd added for someone else earlier. It doesn't any more, and a Lead's company text is used when the person has no company record.
- HubSpot notes and tasks moved to HubSpot's current API, and a dead HubSpot login now asks you to reconnect instead of failing.
If you leave, access goes with you
Removing the extension from Chrome now switches off its access to your CRM, and deleting your Ln2CRM account switches off every CRM connection on it. You don't have to remember to revoke anything in the CRM afterwards, though you still can. Use Ln2CRM in more than one browser? Removing it from one leaves the others working.
Ln2CRM for Capsule CRM
Capsule turned out to be different enough from the other CRMs that we built it as its own extension. Ln2CRM for Capsule is in the Chrome Web Store now. It does the same LinkedIn work: people and organisations saved with one click, opportunities, notes, tasks and synced conversations. It also follows Capsule's own words, so you'll see Opportunity where the main extension says Deal, and finished tasks show up under Past tasks. One Ln2CRM account works in both.
What's next
The HubSpot Additional email option is built and goes out with the next update. If something in this list doesn't behave the way we describe, tell us at admin@ln2crm.com. The personal email change above started with an email like that.
